On February 25, 2020, Montreal, Quebec-based Cogeco Inc. announced the publication of its fifth Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report. The report indicates an increase in the company’s electronics recycling rates and a decrease in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, among other achievements.
This report, issued once every two years, is produced according to the international Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines. It communicates the communication and media company’s initiatives, targets and commitments, as well as the most material issues linked to our environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance.
Highlight of the Cogeco CSR report include the following:
- A continued focus on reducing GHG emissions by deploying energy efficiency projects across facilities and vehicle fleet;
- In 2019, a diversion of 163,095 kilos of electronic waste from landfills, which underlines the commitment to prioritizing electronic waste management;
- Through social outreach in 2019, the company provided support to over 700 non-profit community organizations with over $13 million in cash, in-kind donations and sponsorships, including air-time for fundraising needs; and,
- A review of CSR policy and CSR commitments from a CSR governance perspective to ensure proper alignment to our core values and our enterprise strategic priorities.
