The Environmental Services Association of Alberta (ESAA) has announced that the Remediation Technologies Symposium (RemTech) is expanding. The first edition of RemTech East will be held June 1-3, 2022 at the Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

RemTech East is being presented in conjunction with the Canadian Water Summit (CWS). Now in its 13th year, the CWS facilitates cooperation, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing among the many diverse groups that make up the Canadian water landscape. The CWS covers a range of topics related to drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater.

ESAA has issued a call for technical abstracts to be presented at RemTech East. Abstracts are encouraged in, but not limited to, the following areas: In-Situ and Ex-Situ Treatment, Physical / Biological / Chemical Treatment, Soil Washing and Scrubbing, Thermal Desorption, Incineration, Stabilization / Solidification, Immobilization, Aeration, Soil Venting, Membranes, Encapsulation, Vitrification, Natural Attenuation, Oil Sands Remediation / Reclamation, Oil Spills Management, New Technology and Research, Remote and Difficult Locations, Reclamation, Emerging Contaminants, Superfund Projects, Landfill Closure, Phyto-remediation, Brownfields, Monitoring, Modelling, Testing, Mining Sites, Forestry Sites, and Federal Contaminated Sites. All other related topics will be considered.

Abstracts should be no longer than 500 words (not including biography), should include a presenter biography and be submitted as a Word Document by no later than midnight on February 18th, 2022.

Conference highlights

The conference will kick off with Nik Nanos, founder of Nanos Research, one of Canada’s most distinguished research companies.  His engaging presentation, ‘Inside the Minds of Canadians’ will be followed by a conversation with our MC and will include a Q&A segment. Nanos was named one of the Top 100 most influential people in government and politics in Canada in 2017.

Lunch on Thursday will feature Robert Swan, OBE, the first person to walk to both the North and South Poles and the founder of the 2041 Foundation.  Swan will inspire conference attendees with a message of Leadership, Resilience and a call to action to save Antarctica.

 

The closing luncheon on Friday will feature Simon Jackson, founder of the Spirit Bear Youth Coalition. Jackson will bring the conference to a close with a positive message of balancing people and nature.
