Canadian Nature Federation Established, Nature Canada

The Canadian Audubon Society and its affiliates founded the Canadian Nature Federation, now known as Nature Canada. Expanding on the Audubon Society of Canada’s work, the organization focused on protecting landscapes, preserving ecosystems, and promoting nature education through its Nature Canada publication. It played a key role in preventing the slaughter of buffalo in Wood Buffalo National Park, developing recovery plans for endangered species like the Beluga whale, and advocating for wilderness protection.
