Sydney Tar Ponds

The Government of Canada and the Government of Nova Scotia announce funding for the clean up of the Sydney Tar Ponds on Cape Breton Island, a hazardous waste site associated with historical steel mill operations. Environment Canada played an important role in developing the clean-up plan. The clean up was completed in 2013.
