Wet'suwet'en First Nation

Environmental activists held protests on Vancouver Island and at the Toronto office of Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland, demanding the federal government halt construction of the Coastal GasLink pipeline in British Columbia. The pipeline crosses Wet’suwet’en First Nation territory, and while Coastal GasLink secured approval from 20 elected First Nations councils, hereditary clan leaders oppose the project and have not granted consent.
