The History of Environment in Canada

Two days after the discovery of petroleum hydrocarbons in Iqaluit’s water supply, the Nunavut government declared a state of emergency in the city. Emergency measures included flying in potable water, with at least five shipments expected. Initially, water was rationed to 16 litres per household. Officials suspect the contamination stems from melting permafrost impacting underground pipes.
