In a restructuring move, 2021 saw the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry re-integrated with the Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines. This merger created the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry, while the Ministry of Energy was re-established as a separate entity.
