Research underway on legislation to support the redevelopment of contaminated lands

The Canadian Brownfields Network (CBN) is conducting research on how provincial/territorial legislation supports the redevelopment of contaminated lands.

The survey, entitled “Regulatory Foundations for Brownfield Renewal: A Cross-Canada Look at Policies Driving Brownfield Delivery,” aims to initiate CBN’s research on identifying the positive attributes from each jurisdiction that helps provide a clear closure process that is supported by the government, financial industry and development community.

CBN seeks to catalogue these regulatory practices that are enhancing brownfields and the redevelopment outcomes across Canada.

As a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing brownfield solutions across Canada, CBN relies on the expertise and perspectives of professionals. Participation is vital to helping better understand and support brownfield redevelopment.

CBN is asking for participation by October 10, 2025.  Findings will be announced through CBN social media channels and shared through Environment Journal.
