The Excess Soils Symposium, which is taking place on September 25th, 2025, is opening up opportunities for program content in the form of individual abstracts, session proposals, and panelist participation. The annual symposium provides a first-rate update on the business of excess soils and attracts policymakers and senior-level industry stakeholders.

The symposium is the premier provincial forum to share knowledge and expertise on the latest development, perspectives, and regulations pertaining to managing excess soils in construction and cleanup projects across Canada, helping participants optimize their resource recovery and stay in compliance. The agenda included hot topics, regulatory overviews, and industry insights on best practices and innovative solutions.

We are specifically looking to hear about new regulations, best practices, successful projects, digital and tech solutions, and new research that will provide attendees with the latest information on issues and innovations impacting construction and cleanup projects in Canada.
This can include but is not limited to the following topics:
  • Regulations and Enforcement
  • Resource Recovery
  • Best Practices
  • Digital Tools
  • Project Case Studies

Technical sessions:  For 15 minutes, technical topics are presented by one person or members of a team/project.

Panel sessions: For 30 minutes, a panel should consist of no more than 3 speakers, a moderator, and a complete agenda that has a cohesive theme or topic with the goal to ensure knowledge exchange. Proposed speakers should represent a diverse variety of organizations, backgrounds and experiences.
