Managing excess soil in large-scale construction projects is a complex and demanding task that requires expertise, precision, and a commitment to environmental sustainability. YORK1 has established itself as a leader in this field, offering integrated environmental and infrastructure services that ensure projects are executed efficiently and in compliance with regulatory requirements. Below are two of our most recent integrated projects:

Managing Excess Soil in Downtown Toronto’s Railway Expansion

YORK1’s expertise in soil management was showcased in multiple railway projects in downtown Toronto. These projects, located in the heart of the city, required massive soil movement and presented unique challenges due to the densely populated urban environment. YORK1 was responsible for managing the complex soil requirements, which included erosion control, excavation, mixed soil removal, and granular placement.

As part of our 1FORALL™ approach, the team was also responsible for remediation, backfill, demolition, retaining wall installation, and utility installation, to bring this project to fruition.

Transforming a 40-Acre Site for a City Transit Bus Facility

One of YORK1’s recent projects involved the transformation of a 40-acre site with a new 10-acre large building to accommodate a new bus facility building for the city’s transit system. The project required the demolition of existing structures, which was expertly handled by our Demolition team. Following the demolition, our Civil & Site Services team took on the challenge of managing over 200,000 tonnes of mixed soil and over 100,000 tonnes of granular placement.
