Paul Lefebvre, Parliamentary Secretary to the Honourable Seamus O’Regan, Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources, along with Shawn Tupper, Associate Deputy Minister of Natural Resources Canada, will attend the Breakthrough Energy Solutions Canada Forum 2020 at the University of Ottawa on January 14, 2020.

Breakthrough Energy Solutions Canada is a first-of-its-kind, public–private initiative aimed at accelerating the development of clean energy technologies in the electricity, transportation, buildings and manufacturing sectors. Launched on May 27, 2019, this program aims to support Canadian entrepreneurs and firms to advance clean energy technologies which could significantly reduce global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Collaboration and partnerships are proven to increase the impact of clean energy investments and enhance the pace and scale of the adoption of clean energy technology. In partnership with Breakthrough Energy and the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC), this Natural Resources Canada program will leverage financing and expertise to support the advancement of Canadian clean energy technologies.

As of August 7, 2019, this program will now make available a total initial investment of up to $40 million for breakthrough energy technologies. It is also an opportunity for Canadian entrepreneurs and start-ups to access potential funding and valuable insight from private investors, like Breakthrough Energy Ventures (BEV) and BDC. The successful cohort of companies will also have the opportunity to attend annual “pitch events”, where they can showcase their innovations to investors like BEV and BDC for the opportunity to be considered for additional private investment.

A total of 22 finalists were selected to attend this event:
